We are very excited to announce that we will be ReStarting in person gatherings on August 16, 2020. Church might look a little different with all of the safety precautions in place. Please note that as directives continue to change during the pandemic this list will be frequently updated to provide you with the most up to date information.
A lot has changed over the past several months and a lot can change between now and your first Sunday back. Expect things to look a little bit different. Closer to the date, we will post a Sunday walk-through video so you can know what to expect.
Our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, has ordered that groups of over 50 persons cannot gather. As such, our gathering sizes will be 49 persons.
It is very important that there is space for everyone who would like to attend an in person gathering to do so. As such, we will be hosting two services: 9:00am & 11:00pm.
That is totally okay! We don’t want anyone to feel pressured into coming back before they are comfortable or feel safe. We will continue to stream our services live on Sunday mornings for you to join in from home.
It is essential that we do not have 100 people show up to one service. To make sure that everyone can participate in a service safely, we will be implementing a ticketing process. Naturally, tickets will be free.
Every individual attending an in person gathering needs a ticket. The only exception to this rule is if you are scheduled to volunteer. (e.g. Bob is a greeter. Bob has a wife and three kids. Bob does not need a ticket. Bob’s wife and his three kids do.)
Tickets will be available online through the link on our website every Tuesday for that Sunday’s services. Closer to the date, we will post an instructional video on how to obtain tickets.
Upon entry, every person will be required to sign-in for the service. You do not need to bring a print out of your ticket as we will have a record on file.
Important: Without a ticket, you will be refused entry. No exceptions.
Socially distancing is the most challenging aspect of gathering in person. We will need the help of every individual to do their part to maintain proper social distancing. There will be a clear one way route into the building and a clear one way route out of the building. Chairs will have 6ft (2m) spacing 360 degrees between households.
Providing your family lives in the same household as you, absolutely! Seating will be arranged per household. There will be chairs set up in two’s and around tables for families with children.
While Bethel Kids won’t be gathering downstairs during the services, we will do everything we can to make our services kid friendly. This includes activity sheets at the table as well as components of the service geared towards kids. Don’t worry if your baby cries or your little one asks questions. We love kids at Bethel Church and are just happy that you’ve joined us!
For your safety and comfort, staff and volunteers will wear a mask. While we encourage you to wear one as well, our Provincial Health Officer has said that as long as proper social distancing is in place, a mask is not required.
At this time, singing is still permitted by our Provincial Health Authorities. With that said, we understand that singing does increase the risk of infection. This can be limited by wearing a mask. If you are uncomfortable singing, that is okay!
For your safety, we will be using prepackaged communion cups. They will be on a table where you can pick them up on the way in, and there will be bins to dispose of them on the way out of the service.
Giving can still be done online on our website, or via debit, cash, or cheque at the Connect Desk. The donation box and debit machine will be wiped down after each use.
In order to reduce the spread of infection, we will not be providing paper handouts. We encourage people to access the information on our website or to take notes during the announcements.
There will be no coffee or refreshments served. Feel free to bring your own coffee, tea, or water providing that it is in a bottle or cup with a lid.
Prayer requests can be sent to the church mid-week by using an InTouch card on our website or by phoning our office at 250-245-8221. Once they receive your request, our Pastor’s will be praying for you throughout the week.
If you would like to volunteer, we are having two ReTraining seminars on Tuesday, July 14. One will be held at 3pm and the other at 7pm. To register for a time, email our office at [email protected].
Important: Everyone who wants to volunteer must take this safety training seminar. No exceptions. If you want to volunteer but cannot make it to the times provided, please contact the office and we will schedule another training time once there are enough people.
