We are very excited to announce that we will be ReStarting in person gatherings on August 16, 2020. We will be offering services at 9am and 11am. We will live stream both of these in person gatherings live on Sunday mornings for those unable to attend. Church might look a little different with all of the safety precautions in place. Please note that as directives continue to change during the pandemic this list will be frequently updated to provide you with the most up to date information.

How many people can gather safely?

Our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, has ordered that groups of over 50 persons cannot gather.  As such, our gathering sizes will be 50 persons.

Will there be multiple services to allow everyone who wants to participate to come?

It is very important that there is space for everyone who would like to attend an in person gathering to do so. As such, we will be hosting two services: 9:00am & 11:00am.

What if I don’t feel comfortable returning to church yet? Will there still be online services?

That is totally okay! We don’t want anyone to feel pressured into coming back before they are comfortable or feel safe. We will continue to stream our services live on Sunday mornings for you to join in from home.

How will Bethel ensure that people are evenly distributed between the two services?

To make sure that everyone can participate in a service safely, everyone will be required to register for a service. This can be done at our homepage. Registration is free.

How do I register?

Registrations will be available online through the link on our homepage. Registration is open for each Sunday starting on Tuesday morning.

For your health and safety, every person will be required to sign-in for the service. This allows us to contact you should an outbreak occur. You do not need to bring a print out of your ticket as we will have a record on file.

How will Bethel ensure proper social distancing?

We need the help of every individual to do their part to maintain proper social distancing. There will be a clear one way route into the building and a clear one way route out of the building. Chairs will have 6ft (2m) spacing 360 degrees between households.

Will I still be able to sit with my family?

Providing your family lives in the same household as you, absolutely! Seating will be arranged per household. There will be chairs set up in two’s and around tables for families with children.

Will Bethel Kids Sunday program be running?

While Bethel Kids won’t be gathering downstairs during the services, we will do everything we can to make our services kid friendly. This includes activity sheets at the table as well as components of the service geared towards kids. Don’t worry if your baby cries or your little one asks questions. We love kids at Bethel Church and are just happy that you’ve joined us!

Will I be required to wear a mask?

For your safety and comfort, staff and volunteers will wear a mask. While we encourage you to wear one as well, our Provincial Health Officer has said that as long as proper social distancing is in place, a mask is not required.

Will singing during worship be permitted?

At this time, singing is still permitted by our Provincial Health Authorities. With that said, we understand that singing does increase the risk of infection. This can be limited by wearing a mask. If you are uncomfortable singing, that is okay!

What will communion look like?

For your safety, we will be using prepackaged communion cups. They will be on a table where you can pick them up on the way in, and there will be bins to dispose of them on the way out of the service.

What about the donation collection?

Giving can still be done online on our website, or via debit, cash, or cheque at the Connect Desk. The debit machine will be wiped down after each use.

Will there be coffee and refreshments?

Coffee and tea is served outdoors between services. We have a coffee safety plan in place and our volunteers will be happy to fill your cup!

How can I receive prayer?

Prayer requests can be sent to the church mid-week by using an InTouch card on our website or by phoning our office at 250-245-8221. Once they receive your request, our Pastor’s will be praying for you throughout the week.

How can I volunteer?

If you would like to volunteer, you will be required to take a ReTraining seminar. These are short 30min orrientations to get you up to speed on how to volunteer safely during the pandemic. To volunteer, email [email protected].
